January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, which provides an opportunity to raise awareness of cervical cancer, the importance of regular screenings and the vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is the fourth- leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide. Start the new year right by scheduling your cervical cancer screening and/or encouraging your loved ones to do the same.
The importance of cancer screenings
Preventive care can often be put on our long list of “to do’s” but is often pushed aside because other things feel more important in the moment. When you put your screenings off, you have a higher chance of discovering later-stage cancers and other critical conditions down the line.
When you prioritize preventive care — even when you feel healthy — you’re showing care not just for yourself, but also for your family and friends. When diagnosed early and managed effectively, cervical cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. However, when caught too late, outcomes are not nearly as good.
Get rewarded for your cancer screenings:
- Earn 4,000 Personify Health (formerly Virgin Pulse) points when you complete a cervical cancer screening, mammogram or colonoscopy. Remember, these points help you earn $100 per quarter in Rewards Cash (formerly Pulse Cash), which you can redeem for gift cards, donations and merchandise.
- If you enrolled in the Critical Illness and/or Hospital Indemnity insurancesupplemental health benefitsthrough Securian, you and your spouse/partner can each earn a $50 cash reward when you complete a cervical cancer screening or other routine medical exam and submit a claim. If you have both supplemental health benefits, that’s $100 in your pocket!
Take Action
